BJU Algebra 1 is a problem-solving course where students will learn the findamentals of algebra, including, but not limited to: evaluating algebraic equations - including multi-variable equations; graphing functions and relations; identifying, graphing, and writing linear equations; simplifying and factoring polynomials; graphing systems of inequalities; solving quadratic equations; analyzing probability data dn much more. Students will learn to analyze a problem, identify and apply the correct method for solving real-world problems.

9th/10th Grade Physical Science

Physical Science is a challenging, complex, and exciting class that covers concepts in chemistry, physics, earth science, and scientific research. We will use the Apologia Physical Science curriculum. The textbook has 15 modules, which include comprehensive reading material on each subject, in-class lab activities, study questions, and advanced concepts sections. The companion to the textbook is the Student Notebook, which provides students with a place to keep lecture notes, homework assignments, and lab reports in one organized place.

This class is a survey of classic 20th century American literature covering a variety of weighty themes such as the effects of modern industrialism, The Great Depression, civil rights, the Holocaust, communism and the far reaching effects of war. The rich character development in these texts lends us the ability to learn from their virtuous decisions in some cases and tragic mistakes in other cases. We will compare what we are learning to scripture as the ultimate authority and guide to righteous living and redemption through Christ alone. Scholarly writing and professional presentations centered around creative book projects will bring these timeless works to life in memorable ways!  In addition to the texts below, you will need a college-ruled notebook and lined 3x5 cards (for vocabulary).

This class is a survey of the Romantic, Victorian and Modern Eras combining in-depth reading and analysis of classic texts with scripture and the Biblical theme of discernment. The class will require memorization of scripture, poetry and literary selections, as well as Greek and Latin based vocabulary study. Many captivating discussions and creative projects will encapsulate the timeless works of these legendary authors and poets! Besides the texts below, college ruled notebook and lined 3x5 cards are required. High School Bible and Theology is primarily designed to teach a biblical worldview through discussion of biblical and theological concepts and a practical living out of that worldview by discussing real-world application of those concepts. The goal of the class is to re-enchant a student's imagination toward the Gospel of Jesus Christ, encouraging a lifetime of faithfulness and fruitfulness.

Theater is a fun and engaging class. Theater runs the 2nd semester of the school year. This is Mrs. Korjenek's 3rd year with Vine's theater program. More details to come soon about our Spring show.

Creative Art is a mixed media art class that will create projects including 2D drawing and painting that will teach perspective, shading, and value. Other projects include mosaics, wood burning, foil embossing, and printmaking (and more!).

There is a $75 supply fee for the year (about $2 per week), which can be paid via Venmo to Peter-Fong-9, check, or cash on the first day of class.

This one semester Home Economics course will prepare students with practical life skills for independent living. Students will learn kitchen safety, nutrition, cooking, baking, budgeting, sewing, clothing care, household management, gardening, and hospitality. Through hands on activities and collaborative projects, students will develop confidence in caring for themselves and others.

This fine arts class explores classical and modern techniques through hands-on practice in graphite sketching, watercolor painting, and acrylic painting, paired with art history discussions that connect your work to great masters from the past.

Course Overview
-Graphite Sketching: Learn line, shade, form, and light. Build strong drawing skills.
-Watercolor Painting:Â Master washes, wet-on-wet style, and transparent layers.
-Acrylic Painting:Â Mix rich colors, use bold brush strokes, and build thick textures.Â
-Art History:Â Study key movements. See how past artists inspire modern work.

Graphite Sketching
-Pencil Set:Â Graphite pencils range from hard to soft (2B, 4B, 6B, HB)
-Sketchbook: Medium weight paper (9x12 inches or larger).
-Erasers:Â One kneaded eraser and one white plastic vinyl eraser.
-Blending Stump:Â Paper tortillas for smoothing gradients and shadows.

Watercolor Painting
-Paint Set:Â Student-grade pan set or tubes (at least 12 basic colors).
-Brushes:Â Round brushes (sizes 2, 6, 10) and one 1-inch flat wash brush)
-Paper:Â Cold-press watercolor pad (140 lb/300 gsm weight).
-Board & Tape:Â Hardboard backing and painter's tape to secure your paper.

Acrylic Painting
-Paint Tubes:Â Heavy body acrylics (Primary Red, Primary Blue, Primary Yellow, Mars Black, Titanium White).
-Brushes:Â Synthetic flat, filbert, and round brushes (small, medium, large).
-Surface:Â Stretched canvases or canvas panels (two 11x14 inch panels).
